This web site provides public information about the ShellPlant project. The project was initiated by the coordinator, Bioframe AS, and funded by EU’s FP7 – Research for the benefit of SMEs.
Official start date of the project was January 1st, 2010. The duration of the project is 24 months.
Project Description
The ShellPlant project proposes to develop a plant for closed production of bivalves (primarily high valued scallops and oysters). The plant will include a cultivating system for bivalves in an innovative rack system, an algae photo bioreagtor and a feeding and water exchange system with intelligent controls. The coordinator company Bioframe has done several tests with a floating closed system for the nursery phase and grow-out of bivalves and the project will build on this promising early technology developments.
Project Results
Design for production unit and water flow system (Deliverable 3.1)
The last project result so far, is a report on choice of design for production unit and a solution for implementation of water flow system.
Requirements of the ShellPlant system including microalgae production (Deliverable 1.2)
The project consortium has produced a detailed report on background and technical requirements of the foreseen ShellPlant system, especially focusing on technical requirements for the microalgae production system.
